Bio
San Francisco based musician and educator Louis Christopulos specializes in both electric and double bass. A Bay Area native, Louis studied electric bass at Musician's Institute (Hollywood, California) and later studied double bass at Berklee College of Music with John Lockwood (The Fringe) and Dave Santoro (Jerry Bergonzi). Since returning to the Bay Area in 2003, Louis has been an active live and session bassist. He has also directed middle school and high school music programs and summer music camps. Louis is currently pursuing a Master's Degree at San Francisco State in classical double bass.
Louis has performed and recorded extensively in many styles of music, including Rock, Jazz, Classical, Hip-Hop, Funk, Latin Jazz and Reggae. He has performed at well known bay area venues such as the Concord Pavilion, the Elbo Room, the Catalyst, and at the California State Capitol building for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. On the East coast he has performed at Smalls (NYC), Wally's (Boston) and the Berklee Performance Center. Louis has recorded at world-class studios such as the Musicians Institute and Berklee facilities, Laughing Tiger in San Raphael, CA, and Secret Studios in San Francisco, and has appeared on over twenty albums.
Louis has performed with the likes of Randy Vincent, Vince Lateano, Bruce Forman, Mark Levine, Carter & Bodlovich, Scott "One Drop" Roberts, Megumi Yonezawa, Darren Barrett, The Jethro Jeremiah Band, Al Molina, Derek Smith, Dan Zemelman, Jeffrey Burr, Sameer Gupta, Andrew Speight, 4OneFunk, Kev Choice, Adam Theis, Kenny Brooks, Dayna Stephens, Genevieve Goings, Mike Olmos, Jeff Marrs, John Calloway, Edgardo Cambon, Ray Vega and many other excellent musicians.
